There are many great events leading up to the Canada Selects – England counties game on Friday, June 13th. Open team practices, special public access, a Mayor’s luncheon, and a high school championship game are all adding up to an awesome week for rugby supporters and sports fans in general. Special efforts are being made to provide significant public access to the teams – to let people get up close and personal with these elite athletes while they are here in Chatham-Kent. The practices and social events are open to the media and public and we encourage people to see these national team players in action and to welcome them to Chatham. Community outreach programs are also being developed for some local elementary schools. National team players are being given time to play and work with some elementary school students after some of their practices. These sessions should provide memorable learning experiences for local Chatham-Kent students. Activities open to the public and media
