Kent Havoc RFC 2019 Lil’ Ruggers (Ages 2-8)

Kent Havoc is happy to provide a summer rugby program for the third year! Lil’ Ruggers
(formerly called Rookie Rugby) is a noncontact program that introduces kids aged 2-8
years old to the sport of rugby in gradual and age-appropriate ways. Our Lil’ Ruggers program
is developed to nurture a child’s physical capabilities, enhance their social interactions and
develop intrapersonal skills… with a rugby twist!

Ages 2-5–> kids in this group will develop gross motor skills such as balance,
coordination, and running. They will enjoy simple schoolyard games such as hot-potato, musical
chairs, and freeze tag. Rugby skills that will be taught to this group include running with the
ball, throwing, catching and kicking!

Ages 5-8 –> here, kids will further develop their athletic talents, team mentality and
sportsmanship. They will learn timing, looking for space, running at pace and communication
through drills and playing games such as rugby-baseball, British Bulldog, and capture the flag.
Rugby-specific skills taught to this group will include passing and catching while running, a
variety of kicks, and defensive positioning.

When / Where: Practices will be on Saturdays from 9:45-10:45am at the Kent Havoc field
