 Maple Leafs Abroad
Canadian rugby players are making their names known playing for many professional and semi-professional rugby teams overseas. To help you keep track of Canadian players who have worn the maple leaf in international competition, we've created a list with links to player profiles. We've also included links to the leagues and the club teams for which they play. You can follow their progress by clicking on the links in the table below.

The increasing number of Canadian nationals playing at top level northern and southern hemisphere clubs is contributing to better play at the international level. During Canada's 56-7 win over the U.S. in August, 2006, no less than 17 professionally-paid Maple Leafs were eligible to play for Canada. Twelve of Canada's starting 15 dressed for that game -- double the number of professionals who suited up for the USA Eagles.

Since then, about 20 Canadians have played professional or semi-professional rugby in foreign clubs every year. Those numbers have declined recently. A youth movement on the Canadian team has reduced the number of national players that are currently playing abroad. As their experience on the national team grows, the number of Canadian players on foreign club rosters should increase once again.

Current Maple Leafs playing abroad are listed below.

National Recognition for Maple leafs Abroad

I have to commend your initiative in developing such a unique and interesting component to the Kent Havoc website: "Maple Leafs Abroad". This is a feature that we at Rugby Canada felt we should be developing in the near future, and we are inspired by the creativity shown by your community-based club. Thank you for the support of our national athletes - and good work on adding such great content to your website.
